So I almost like hydrox cookies as a kid… just because they were the only option for oreo-like snacks.

when I worked for Haägen Daz Ice Cream (as an ice cream scooper) we had to learn the ingredients for the ice cream. They, at that time, used Hydrox Sandwich Cookies because those cookies were kosher and had no artificial ingredients. If Hydrox no longer exists, what kind of cookies are in Cookies & Cream????

HYDROX!!! My disdain for those stems not so much from church (as a child we got crackers which are fine generic & i went to a BIG church in youth so we did get OREO's) but when mom tried to go cheap. I understand somethings generic, but you don't mess with a kids OREO's.

I laughed at this because I remember all to well. Actually our church kept everything in the FREEZER so not only was it off-brand but it was also soggy after the thaw. Ahhh childhood memories :D

By the way. Hydrox were the original chocolate sandwich cookie. Oreo's were released later but, over the years, became brand dominant and sales of the Hydrox dipped so low that they were eventually discontinued - I saw a documentary on it.
