#534. Fancy Electronic Bibles.
May 1st by Jon(I have a lot of friends that are using their Blackberrys and iPhones to look up Bible verses. Which is cool until I saw this new Bible from my friends Tyler Stanton and Tripp Crosby. Here, in the first ever video guest post on Stuff Christians Like, is a commercial they made for the new iBible. They made it for Catalyst West Coast and it’s part of a handful of videos they’ve released that are floating about the Internets right now. Expect to see more guest posts from these guys in the future because they are hilarious and they live in Atlanta and sometimes they come over my house and we try to make each other funnier.)

Gotta love the parental lock switch and the dot matrix printer!
WV:dogizat – a quick of inquiring about a canine. “Who dogizat?”
Jon you are running behind the times that has been up on FOTTSP for like a whole day now. Of course you would have to understand Katdish’s Skymall obsession to know that it had to show up there first.
Tyler and Tripp, you guys are frigintastic. I’m not sure what my favorite part is. I’m torn between the “parental lock” the loud DM printer in church, the easy port to port connection, and “is that a good price?” They are all pretty freakin’ hilarious. I need to get a commercial made for my t-shirt cannon.
Tired of being like every other bible-thumping church goer?
**** yes!
Sooooooo funny!
Funny concept but a little too “Christian libertyish” for me.
EPIC. Jesus would totally have an iBible.
That’s rad! So if I have any problems with my iBible, do I need to dial into a BBS for support?
Funny!!
Love these:
“Ink Ribbon Not Included”
and
“Four color choices for Jesus’ words.”
wv: connac – Word used to describe an act of deception.
“Those guys trying to sell the iBible have a real connac going on.”
I’m with Nick — You been scooped by FOTTSP. But I still liked it a lot.
Although I’m puzzled by taralynn819′s comment….
What exactly is “christian libertyish” and how can I mock it?
Where do these people go to church? I am willing to move across the country and become a member tomorrow.
Hell yes.
“verses that have the word “ass”"
Man, there aren’t enough of those verses now are there?
That is great! They need to keep it up. You can’t get much more sarcastic than that.
I heart this post. Why?
a. It was on FOTTSP two days ago which means Jon comes by lurks more often than I knew. I feel all warm and fuzzy
b. Stacy checked in with humor and she’s had a rough week. It’s good to see she can still shine through her pain.
c. I’m with Steph…what the heck is “Christian libertyish” and how can I, too, mock it?
Did they bleep out the word “hell” in the beginning? Maybe they intended us to think it was dirtier, but I’m really good at reading bleeped-out curse words.
Also, those modem sounds made me all nostalgic.
Guys!
Don’t hate, please. I am one of you.
But why oh why MUST we say “hell” and “ass” (and giggle amongst ourselves about it) in order to feel like a hip, 21st century, non-legalistic Christian?
The video would be just as razzle dazzle without the edgy terminology. It’s almost like cracking sex jokes at a wedding. C’mon people.
Our clean comedy is starting to become not so clean. And let me tell you, the world loves it.
Mock if you wish.
Order fast people, and we’ll throw in a Life Application cartridge for free. It’s a bit bulky, but with it you’ll never have to read any actual verses again!
Seriously though, Jon, thanks for including us in your famous blog. I just got an email from a certain publisher saying they want’s us to write the final draft of your book. Is that okay?
After settling down again after my laughing fit, I can finally type. I don’t now how may times I snorted while watching this! The BLEEP! The bleep and the loud dot-matrix had me rolling!
Thank you to all involved in making this!!
I heard you have to buy an extension and speakers for the Amplified Bible cartridge.
@taralynn819,
No mocking here. I’m don’t feel the same way about this video, but I know where you’re coming from.
@Tripp Crosby,
Ouch! But funny.
@Lex Fear,
That made me laugh.
@FOTTSP,
Get over yourselves already!
(I’m sure Katdish will put me in the time out corner for saying that)
The iBible almost as good as the Macbook Wheel.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuVbrm_GqhM
This is laugh out loud hilarious! I love it!
Yes, I saw these guys video about my pastor Craig Groeschel. Very clever and funny! But warning…if you dish it out…you better be prepared to take it
Craig has been a part of many a practical jokes around here!
I was at Catalyst West Coast when this video was shown…. It was hilarious…Tripp and Tyler are definitely a funny duo!!! I’m campaigning to have them move out to San Diego so I can see more of them!
hi, it is interesting info. When I preach some time I think people plying their phones insted of listening sermon/
This is the best thing ever. “Parental lock for song of solomon and verses with the word ass.” I thought coffee was going to come out of my nose. Awesome.
Life Applications Cartridge. LOL!!!
(And I did, so I can use LOL)
I think there is a verse where King Saul does his business in a cave. I would block that one, too.
Haha! That’s awesome!
My dad wrote an iPhone app called HandiBible…I think it’s pretty impressive…but this is still quite hilarious
At #catwest, this video had the conference rolling. It was classic.
Here’s another good iBible product
Sadly enough, I got something like that for Christmas once…and all I wanted was something to play with that was actually FUN! I’m with Steph @ redlclay. . . how was that “Christian Libertyish”?
is it me or is FOTTSP written by and for knitting cats?
taralynn,
vid was great not necessarily because it ‘swore’ (ass and hell? c’mon), but b/c of the context of the swearing. well, personally, i thought the first one was pitch perfect. i didn’t get the feeling that they were ‘cursing’ just because they could. it really fit in with the rhythm and the tone of the video.
i am sorry that you felt mildly offended by the video though, and just want to offer an alternative view. imo, Christian liberties are to be cherished, not shunned. but then again, they shouldn’t be flaunted either. i just didn’t think that the video was flaunting.
“Go get ‘em, King David!” This is so freakin’ funny!
