Help Zakk look phresh this Thanksgiving.

Nov 23rd by Jon

I’m not going to lie to you. Zakk, our metrosexual worship leader, is going home for Thanksgiving. And he wants to look phfly. (That’s how the kids are saying it, right?) He’s probably going to go by TGIFriday’s the night before Thanksgiving with everyone he went to high school with. And they haven’t seen him in a few years and he’s been doing push ups these last few weeks and wants to make a good first impression. But his outfit is adequately incomplete.

Fortunately, we’re only $855 from hitting our next micro goal of $3,000. We’re only $855 from hitting our goal of $50,000 on the way to our massive, God is crazy big $60,000 goal.

Let’s do it before Thanksgiving.

Let’s hit $50,000 and all go home to our families for the holiday knowing we’re that much closer to building 2 kindergartens in Vietnam.

Whether you’re in Alabama and getting ready for this Thursday or in Australia and it’s already Thursday (I’m really bad at the hour conversions, I know you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, but is it Thursday there already? I need to come visit and find out.) let’s go ahead and knock this out.

Let’s hit $50,000 this week.

Last I checked, it's still Monday. By the way, if you come to Perth, I'll bbq a steak for you.

I wish I had a million dollars to give to this, but I barely have 1 dollar.
I hope zakk understands.

Zakk hasn't donated, either. He's saving up for a skin exfoliant.

I guess that makes me feel a little better or actually worse that I am mentioned in the same breathe as a metrosexual worship leader. This could drive me to give more money.

don't know if it really counts, but one time i met one of my youth group advisers in the wild. . .

was 12, and very much the "quiet awkward girl" which made the encounter even worse.

i was sitting at a bus stop, waiting for my mom to pick me up, when my adviser rolls up in his car. We exchange "hellos" and he tries to talk to to me for a few minutes during the red light that has stopped him. i see the light turn green, so i hurriedly say, "Oh, bye *****.", but the traffic doesn't move immediately. . . so he's sitting there for like a good 30-45 seconds after i said good bye. . .

Then he made fun of me later at youth group saying, "Oh, hey guys, don't try to talk to Maggie when you're in your car. She'll say bye to you like 5 minutes before you leave."

ah, youth group. . . i kinda miss those days! (again, twas a awkward place to be being an awkward, quiet girl)

Jon/anyone who wants to help:
I (and my grassroots band of friends in Franklin, TN) support a rural church near Jacmel, Haiti called Restoration Ministries. Little by little, we've been helping them to impact their community through mission trips and sending resources via our Bible study/non-profit, The Conduit. We've been blessed to be able to help them start a feeding program for children in the area (they feed around 80 kids 3 times a week). We also help facilitate and support a child sponsorship program ($30 a month sends them to school, feeds them, and empowers their family to support themselves). Restoration Ministries has been struggling to finish a building which will house that feeding program, as well as the local pastor, supplies, and battered women. Right now we have to pay to rent a house for those purposes, and it's very expensive. We really need that to be finished by December, so we are launching an initiative to raise the final $15,000 needed. Our future goals are to build a well next year, and eventually establish an orphan village.

Would you consider another fundraising challenge (or just donate) to help Restoration Ministries achieve those community-reaching and Kingdom-building goals? If so, I'd also like to invite readers to consider joining one of our mission trips to Jacmel. We have been taking several annual trips over the past few years, and I have one open June 17-24.
