11 sites/people that were extremely kind to Stuff Christians Like
What to expect in 2010 from Stuff Christians Like:
1. The Stuff Christians Like book comes out in 2010.
2. A completely new year of Stuff Christians Like ideas.
3. A twitter walk through of Psalms just like we did Proverbs. (Follow me on Twitter)
4. Possibly some video posts.
5. A new project similar to the Vietnam kindergarten one.
6. Some ridiculous giveaways.
7. Me trying to help other people get published. (Like Wes Molebash and his graphic novel idea.)
That’s it, that’s the look back and the look ahead, but one thing needs to be touched on again – The Vietnam project. Last year, you and me raised money to build two kindergartens on the other side of the planet. A site that isn’t even original, and a group of people who have never met, came together and raised $30,000 in 18 hours and then a total of $60,000 in 25 days. That’s real. That’s what you did this year. That’s what we did this year. That’s what God on high did. Thanks for being willing to step out like that. I can’t wait to see what we do next.
Side hugs, leg drops, razzle dazzle and selling more copies than the Shack
Jon
I'm thinking there could be some weird connection between all 3 items in the headline……….
Title must explain how Jon's New Year Eve went down. Nice.
Ha!
I'm hoping for more Skittles to be thrown out during church service.
Taste the rainbow indeed…
I second the skittles. I thought of it in church on Sunday when: My pastor lead worship because everyone else on staff was on vacation; all the Chris-easters were there; all the regulars (except my family) were on vacation, and the pastor brought an armchair on stage and did his sermon via the grand-pa chair.
And I do wish we had a Christian Lady Gaga, but I'm not sure how that would go over. Can we get a visual from Wes Molebash?
Ooh ooh (raising hand) I second that idea! Wes? Are you there?
Please don't forget the silliness! I like your serious wednesday posts, I love how you got people to donate so much money, I love all the other things you do. But don't forget the silly fun that made this blog great in the first place!
Oh, and tell Zodervan to extend your booktour to Europe. That would be cool too.
Its been a great year Jon. Thanks for all that you do. Your consistency in writing post and continuing to make me laugh, think, and then respond is what makes this blog the place to be.
This list is pretty impressive. I'd forgotten about a number of them. Like you've said (I think at the 500 mark), the next ones will only be better. I agree. I think this year has been amazing… and I think in 2010 we'll only see better posts (have I said this before?).
By the way, I didn't buy the Shack, but I'm buying Stuff Christians Like, so that's at least one more on this side.

Speaking of Lady Gaga… here's a fantastic quote from the diva: “Some artists want your money so they can buy Range Rovers and diamond bracelets, but I don’t care about that kind of stuff. I want your soul.”
What an awesome year it has been. It filled me with JOY! Yeah – that's right. I said it.
As a new reader, this list is a terrific primer on Stuff Christians Like. My son and I became instant fans after reading the Deep V-neck Syndrome. Probably the funniest blog writing I've seen since Dooce.com.
Keep up the good work!
Dave
Razzle Dazzle dude. Razzle Dazzle indeed…
I'm interested to see what the fashion statement of the Christian hipster's going to be this year.
We've had the v-neck down to the belly buttons.
We've had the graphic t's.
We've had the graphic t prints on button down shirts.
What are they going to think of next?
Graphic t print tattoos?
Next (actually, it is happening) is the vest. The vest basically goes over a deep vneck. But this year, much like the printed tee, the vests will get wilder and wilder and people will start pairing them with scarfs, and I am talking about dudes here.
You're exactly right. And I hate that. I like the vest. I really do. But I like it for dressing up, not for looking hip. Now, if I try to wear one with a tie when I have to dress up, I'll look like I'm trying to be hip.
Then again, with what people are charging for vests ($30-100 from what I've seen) I couldn't afford one on a seminary budget anyway.
Wearing a $40 vest on top of a $12 v-neck shirt. That's funny to me.
Jon! Congratulations on a super awesome fantastic killer year. (….yes, extra adjectives mean I mean it!)
I just found you on a list of top rated Christian blog sites. You were #37. That's wild! I'm #350,586….also, pretty freakin' amazing. I really thought I would be #351,741, but who knew?! (My wild success rested about 92% on my guest post here, I think. No, seriously, that was probably it.)
Best wishes for a grand year in 2010. I'm pre-ordering your book when I order all my school books in about a week, and I KNOW I'll be laughing my rump off once it arrives, and sharing the laughs with my readers and friends.
You've made my year more cheerful for sure. I'm REvamping my blog, as I found my funny bone underneath a few rolls of…um….rolls of ….um….quarters.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Lisa
Is the run through the Psalms going to be restricted to Twitter? Maybe I'm the only one not on Twitter, but I would still like to hear what you have to say on the Psalms.
I wanted to just hit the like button but realized i was not on fb…. which is how we 'met'.
because my friend recommended you to me and….. I just wanted to know if it was true that you would friend me just because i ask…..that seemed so silly.
then i saw the blog, and became a big fan of serious wednesdays. (because as funny as you are jon, I liked knowing you had/have a sincere desire to love Jesus and make SCL a way to do that).
i have not recruited more friends for you on facebook but I have shared serious wednesday posts with others (read this _____ and then i post the link). the other posts i just quote verbally to my friends cuz your lines rock!!
a few of my friends received the shack for christmas this year. i was at a holiday party and plucked it off the host's bookshelf (while I was watching my kids in the room the other adults avoid because of the kids that some of us bring cuz we can't afford/find babysitters) just to see what all the hype was about.
i still have not read it ……. oh but i WILL read SCL and buy it for others for early X-mas presents!
I think that is the best post title ever.
Jon, I absolutely love it here; this blog and the community that has risen around it have ministered to me so much. I have "Refusing the gift of the desert road" and "Thinking you're naked" bookmarked under my favorites so I can read them whenever I need some encouragement. I'm looking forward to buying the book. 🙂
Oh, and thanks for introducing me to Jesus Needs New PR; I read his blog right after I read yours. 🙂
Interesting posts you have, though I think Christianity is dead and will be redeemed and brought to fruition and perfection through Thelema. Check out my blog at http://christianityisdead.wordpress.com/ if you will. Love is the law, love under will. 😉
I forget how I found your blog, but I guess what matters is that I did. I personally think one of the better gifts that God can give is a sense of humor. Life would be a bit of a dud without one.
I hope you continue this for a long time to come, or whenever you get tired of it. Hopefully the former and not the latter.
It's going to be a good year no matter what happens!
