97 seconds with God & Twitter & Facebook.
Jan 5th by JonI used to write a blog called “97 seconds with God.” The goal was to pack truth and hope and challenge into a really short bit of text or 97 seconds.
When I started writing the Stuff Christians Like book, I had to stop writing that site, but the desire to write short firecracker bursts of Bible was not something I quit wanting to do.
So starting on Wednesday January 6, I’m going to write a single thought about each chapter of the book of Psalms. Day by day. Chapter by chapter. We did that with Proverbs a few months ago and it was a lot of fun.
To find it on Twitter, follow me @prodigaljohn
To read it on Facebook, let’s be friends.
If you’d like to add your own thought, there were some great ones during the Proverbs experiment, use this tag on twitter “#sclp.” That way we can all see them.
Looking forward to reading Psalms with you.
Jon

Woohoo!!
Great! I love the Psalms!!!
Intriguing. I'm all set to follow along.
I'm not on Twitter so I'm glad this is also available for FB users.

I sent you a FB friend request almost a month ago and you haven't accepted!!
I'm excited! Sounds like a plan!
Are you doing 119 all at once or one day for each stanza?
That twitter hashtag reads like "Scalp" – not sure what the Freudian implications are. We're going to scalp the heck out of all the deeper layers of Psalms? Ouch. Let's hope it "hurts so good" more than the other kind.
Looking forward to it!
I have a twitter account but honestly I don't quite "get" it yet. Can I receive your tweets on the Psalms without following you and receiving EVERY tweet you twit? That's what I'd like. Thanks!
ok, so are you using the 97 secs blog or only twitter & fb? I will cover all basses and follow you but just to clarify…
this is awesome…I'm game
I am looking forward to it…
When you search #SCLP it almost becomes its own devotional book, line by line.
If anyone's interested in a musical accompaniment to this Psalm-twitting process, check out the band 'Sons of Korah'. They're an Australian band that have set the words of the Psalms to contemporary acoustic music. Should be available in iTunes.
