I can't come up with anything I wish to have a 'Christian version' of - though I can appreciate the idea; it feels like I've been here before I just can't remember when or why. I do prefer wholesome music though but my tastes are well looked after.

So this topic, and all the other cute lies we make up in the name of other holidays, just makes my blood boil. And I could rant for days if I weren't typing with my thumbs. But the short version is this: lie to your own kid if that's your idea of harmless fun, but leave mine out of it.

I also wonder of all this crap is funded by the glitter syndicate, because there is glitter in the reindeer oats, glitter in the leprachaun traps, glitter in the fairy dust. And we all know that glitter is from Satan.

Thanks so much for an extremely pertinent post as usual! My college fellowship is planning an outreach event around Easter and this is the perfect reminder that even touching one person with our event would be amazing. Sometimes it's so hard to keep reaching out to friends and initiating discussions but the fruit is so worth it and so life-changing.

This comment is worthy of more than one reply, but I don't want to look like an e-creeper.

You went from Morgan Freeman to Vampire Weekend in one sentence. That is magical.

And with a Brad Paisley Bonus Country Music Combo Multiplier at the end, there are some serious pop-culture-reference points being earned here. Congratulations.

Thank you Christina for the verse. Please keep in prayers... they now say that i have not done anything significant. Please pray that they see things in perspective and not make any hollow promises.

Agree. But, have seen this idea used and abused.

We try to start a ministry at a campus, where there are alot of other successful ministries. We kill ourselves, and work like crazy all so that maybe two or three at most people can casually come to our group. Was it worth it? I wonder. If we weren't there, wouldn't they just go to one of the other xian groups. Isn't it something of a conceit to think that somehow a spiritual need on campus is not being met, if *our* group is not preaching the gospel on that campus.

I think that you also sometimes see this with some church plants, where the planters come to an area, pretty much saturated with churches, so they can minister to some unreached subset of people. Would it have been better to go somewhere that is really underserved, or can we say that even if they reach just a few people its worth it?

I sometimes think that the notion of the "importance of one soul" while true, is often misused and abused by pastors who misuse and misallocate their resources (ie. their workers/people like us). Just a thought.
