Unless you watch the Simpsons, the title of this post makes no sense. But if you do, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. Ned Flanders, father of Rod and Todd, rejector of life insurance because it feels like “gambling,” inventor of the phrase “Okily Dokily,” represents Christianity on the Simpsons. For years he has been Homer Simpson’s next door neighbor with a neon heart for the Lord. He even appeared on the cover of Christianity Today. But after his wife died, in a NASCAR t-shirt canon related death, he slept with a girl he was dating. The creators tried to soften the act by having Flanders say he would only do it once, but the damage was done. Ned lost many fans that day, number one being sweet baby Jesus of course. Who loved season four of the Simpsons when Conan O’Brien was writing for them. The monorail is the best episode ever. There can be discussion on this. What a dork I am.
