1. Isn’t this like that site, “Stuff White People Like?”
That’s kind of you, but I would describe it more as a “direct rip off.” But sometimes I pretend it’s an homage. Mostly because I want an excuse to pretend I use the word “homage” regularly.
2. When did you launch this?
March 21. Instead of cramming the first 40 posts on one day that would never have been scrolled through, I went back and started it on January 1st. That way the days are all evenly laid out and when you click on “March” you don’t just see one thick day trying to carry 40 posts.
3. Why do you have three sites?
Prodigaljon.com and 97secondswithgod.com were my first sites. They all serve different purposes but the content flows between them. Prodigal Jon has over 100 long chapters or ideas about life. 97seconds is full of quick devotionals that only take a few seconds to read.
4. Can I submit an idea?
Please, the best ideas on this site came from readers. Seriously, you are the site. I’m just transcribing most of this stuff from my life and lots of others. Email me at [email protected] with your ideas.
5. Are you on facebook?
Yes. Let’s be friends. Search for [email protected] to find me.
6. Who are you?
I’m Jon Acuff, from North Carolina via Massachusetts now in Atlanta with my two kids and my prettier than me wife. I went to Samford University.
7. What do you do?
I write advertising. I do it full time and freelance on the side.
8. What about writing a real book?
I’ve actually had some really positive conversations with a publisher and some literary agents in the last week. I may get that 87′ LeBaron convertible after all.
9. Do some people hate this site?
Indeed. Thankfully, yes.
10. How long have you been a minster?
Not long. Another way to answer that question is “never.” Although someone asked me that the other day.
11. Are you speaking anywhere soon?
I’m speaking next week but it’s a closed event. If a book comes out hopefully there will be a sarcastically named tour of churches or youth groups or taco stands.
