I rarely stray too far from the point of this site, which is to reflect back the things we do and the ways we do them in numerical fashion. Pretty simple really.
But today, a friend sent me a link to a story about a church in Charlotte, NC that got most of their stuff stolen in March. Someone basically stole a trailer which contained a reported 75% of what they use every Sunday. Pack and Plays for little kids, set up stuff, it’s gone.
The church responded with a billboard and then a really honest, really beautiful video offering forgiveness to the person who stole their stuff. Don’t let their use of the word “ballsy” on the billboard prevent you from watching the clip. (They used it in a hope that it would grab the attention of the thief and make him/her visit their site and see their forgiveness video, which is a bit nooma-ish.)
Other people have written about this before so if this is old news, my bad, but it’s still a gorgeous reminder of what Christianity can look like.
