I have a long list of things I’m thankful for this year, but today I wanted to take a minute and thank you, the readers.
Thank you for spending the last eight months with me. This site wouldn’t have lasted a month without you.
Thank you for writing comments that are often funnier and more insightful than the original post.
Thank you for reminding me to razzle dazzle and that “booty, God, booty” is not a completely crazy idea.
Thank you for telling friends about the site and linking to it from your own sites.
Thank you for helping me have the opportunity to write a Stuff Christians Like book for Zondervan. Your role in that cannot be overstated.
Thank you for being honest.
Thank you for allowing me the freedom to fail and hopefully grow in the process of what I am writing.
Thank you for sharing your ideas, like “breaking up after a retreat.”
Thank you for creating a community where an agnostic atheist can send an email at 4:13 AM on a Tuesday morning that says:
I guess I still hope, after reading your website, that God, if He’s out there, is good enough to forgive someone like me, who can’t get past the fact that I just don’t know and find myself with such a small capacity for faith. That’s why I like your website. Because it points out the little things that cover up what I imagine a real relationship with Jesus would be. Gives me a bit of hope, I suppose, that even though I’m not very good at faith and spirituality and the like, a lot of the “extra” stuff doesn’t matter, like avoiding beer or not knowing who all those famous pastors were that you compared with superheroes.
Thank you.
Jon
p.s. I’ll be back on Saturday.
