Two days ago, the Acuff family packed up our things in Atlanta and moved to Nashville.
Why?
Two words: Dolly Wood.
Not really, although being in Tennessee does increase our proximity to the DW. (And I don’t mean Arthur’s punk sister.)
The real reason is that we moved to Nashville so that I could join Dave Ramsey’s team. And although this weekend was a blur and the last two weeks felt fast, this is actually something that has been in the works for about two years.
Starting on August 9th, I’m going to be writing about social media, leadership and everything else the Ramsey team has going on. I’m going to be speaking a lot more and doing my best to add to the great work they have in motion. And, I’m going to be writing Stuff Christians Like as part of my job.
That’s really exciting to me. A big part of saying yes to this adventure was the idea that we’ve built up a wildly fun community of people who help each other and laugh with each other and challenge each other. We even built two kindergartens in Vietnam. But what if there was the chance for me to commit myself to this ministry in more ways than just an hour before work and a few hours on the weekend. What if this could be part of my day?
I am thrilled to be sharing this with you today. I am ecstatic that I’m joining a team that knows what I do and wants to strengthen it, not water it down. I am overwhelmed at how much I’ll get to learn from the team of people I’m joining. I am so green at growing something and shepherding something. I am a very tiny fish entering a very big pond.
The Acuffs live in Franklin, Tennessee now. We loved Atlanta but I couldn’t write about trusting God and chasing dreams if I passed up on this one.
Thanks for being a huge part of why this is possible. I’ll have a fresh post up on Tuesday. Our house doesn’t have Internet yet and I’m starting to smell a little like french press coffee.
