This chapter reads like a manifesto from wisdom. Imagine wisdom standing in the middle of a busy street, yelling this above the masses. The line that caught me most was simple.
Verse 35 says, “For whoever finds me finds life.”
That’s a bold statement, and one that compassion never makes, one that kindness never makes, one that honesty never makes.
Have you ever thought about that? The book of Proverbs is an exploration of wisdom, but there’s no other good character trait given such attention in the Bible.
You could argue that the book of Psalms touches on a few things, but there’s not an entire book dedicated to how we’re supposed to be nice.
That’s interesting to me. I feel like the Bible spends more time on the subject of wisdom than most of us do.
